Counselling Sittingbourne
Hi, my name is Allison Withers and I’m a fully qualified counsellor at CBT & Counselling Sittingbourne. I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have with a wealth of experience in dealing with difficulties such as trauma, addiction, grief, suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety, depression, and phobias.
I understand that finding a good therapist can be a daunting task, because the search can be exhausting! Especially when it is so important to find someone who you feel comfortable up to open up to and who will understand you. Allowing yourself be vulnerable with a stranger might feel quite scary, so I congratulate you for taking the first step. As your therapist, I will be by your side, every step of your journey and although you might feel stuck right now, I can assure you there is light at the end of the tunnel.
My core therapeutic approach is ‘Person Centred ‘which means our sessions will be led by you. However, I promise to support you in exploring your thoughts, feeling and behaviours, to enable you a greater self-awareness and happier wellbeing.
We will work together and I will draw upon a variety of therapeutic approaches, dependant on your individual situation and unique needs.
Background/experience
Prior to me training to become a therapist, my background was Corporate Customer Services working at the head office of a large retail company supporting customers and store staff. Throughout my working life I have always had a passion for helping others, working in the voluntary sector for charitable organisations such as Mind, Place2Be and Citizens Advice. This has given me the opportunity to support people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to navigate the difficulties they face.
- I will be there to support you in making sense of your emotions and behaviours. Which will empower you to make any changes in your life that you choose.
- Using my extensive experience, I will tailor my theoretical approach to suit your individual needs and goals.
- I pride myself on being warm, friendly and approachable. Therefore, I will create a safe, confidential space where you will have the freedom to talk openly and be truly heard.
- The sessions will go at your pace. Because it is so important that you feel comfortable enough to open up and explore your feelings so you are able to move forward more positively.
- Together, we will explore your life experiences in order to find understanding as to how they may have contributed to you feeling unhappy, anxious or confused. We will then find the relevant tools to help you manage any helpful behaviours that might have developed because of these experiences.
